Overcoming Time Constraints
By Eugene Orlando
1. Time can be made if you only
scrutinize your days carefully.
2. Do not volunteer for another thing,
and try to get out of some of the things you have already volunteered for. How?
Find others (who are not interested in writing) to take over for you.
3. Do not feel bad if you disappoint
people. I doubt that there isn’t a single author’s first published work that wasn’t
published through the disappointment of others. Once the work is in print, give
them a complimentary copy and thank them for allowing you the time to create
it. I bet they won’t bother you when you write your next book.
4. Sit down with your family and discuss
with them the importance of what you are about to do. Enlist their aid in
freeing up your time. Get them to take on more responsibilities. If you
normally take your kids everywhere, try to arrange a car pool situation or
trade off taking turns with other parents involved in your child’s activities.
They could probably use some break time as well.
5. Get up earlier in the morning or stay
up later at night, only don’t jeopardize getting enough sleep to do it.
6. When you do have time, post a “Do Not
Disturb” sign on your door and get the family to respect it.
7. If anyone in your life complains
about your writing activities, remind them how nice it will look to have a book
in hand with you as the author.
